Hello, I wanna ask about my asus P5RD1-VM motherboard. what is the best processor to upgrade my motherboard? ASUS site said that it can be upgraded using P4-3.80GHz(FSB800, revR0).
is it good?

It was... many years ago. It's only a single core processor. If you aren't planning on seriously attacking heavy gaming, it will provide you with plenty of usable Windows processing power. If you put in a good graphics card and have a powerful enough PSU for the card, you can probably do gaming at 1680x1050 and below by not turning on all the eye candy.

According to the website for that board ( http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5RD1VM/#CPUS ), it can take that processor as well as more powerfull ones. All the way up to a Pentium D 950 (dual core). But you may have trouble finding either one as a new item today, though. Ebay has some used D 950s however: ( http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=Pentium+D+950&_sacat=See-All-Categories ) I'm sure the single core processor you mentioned would also be available there.

my Mobo is equipped with pentium 4 2.8 GHerz processor, 512 ddr 1 memory and 80 Gigabyte Harddisk. Which is the first thing that i need to upgrade?

To play the games you would want to play, you would need to max out that old board with 2G of DDR2 400MHZ memory.

That's marginal for today's games, but that's all your board can take. The HDD is tiny at 80G. If your old one is using a ribbon cable on the IDE port, I'd get rid of it and go modern (SATA) if you're going to upgrade it.
Finally, you'll need a graphics card. That will be provide the speed increase you need for gaming. (Assuming the other items are taken care of)
Anything from a Nvidia GTS 450 or AMD 6670 would be the bare minimum I'd recommend for gaming @ 1680x1050 and below.

If you keep the old tiny HDD, I'd recommend cleaning it with CCleaner. Do the Clean and Registry.

However... there comes a point where spending large amounts of money upgrading an old system isn't cost effective any more. It may be time to put the money to better use.

I hope I'm not too late. I inadvertently linked you to DDR2 memory. I forgot that your old board can only use DDR. If you've already ordered the memory based on my suggestion, I applogize for the faulty info. Re-order the correct memory and return the other memory un-opened for a full refund.
