Different situation i5 vs q9550

Hello,
ok heres this situation
i upgraded my pc, wich is:
gigabyte ep41t-ud3l
e6750 2.66 4mb
2 * 2 gb ram ddr3 1333
460 gtx msi cyclone

the only thing i didnt upgrade was the cpu, so im going to sell my leftovers with my current cpu and get a new one

i know its not worth spending the money on an e8400 so im thinking of a q9550, but i found out that a q9550 = i5 + motherboard in price
so i thought i would sell my new board with the cpu and my old board and just get the i5 with new board, im confused y is the i5 way cheaper the the q9550 if its better for gaming
THE ONLY THING I USE MY PC IS GAMING, its like my xbox

so please help me out should i just sell the leftovers + my cpu and get a q9550
or sell leftovers + cpu + motherboard and get a i5 + motherbaord and thanks

I5 2500K is the sweat spot for gaming right now even the lesser I5 2xxx would win over the Q9550 http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/50?vs=288

The C2QX are getting on a bit. Best to go with the I5 true power.
