OK, i have a little mini dilemma.

I want to upgrade my PC, it has a q6600 but crap graphics. I'm thinking about adding a Palit dual fan GTX 580 and a corsair 950W psu that i will transplant to a new build later on.

Or i could just build a whole new system now based around an i7 2600k on a p67 mobo.

My question is, will the p67 be a good long term plan or will the z68 be the top dog? and will the z68 come with more features and a host of top end cpus like x58 vs p55? Also, is the p67 set up any good at SLI incase i choose to add a second card later for more grunt?

UK, budget isn't set, but nothing rediculous, sub £1500K (not spend more than a months pay)
current system is a refurb acer, q6600 on a nvidia based mobo with 3 gb ram, 8600GS, and win vista (i will get win 7)

the new spec if i build now would be,
i7 2600k, ASUS sabertooth p67,
GTX 580,
8gb corsair vengence ram,
120gb corsair SSD,
950W Corsair TX PSU,
Antec 902 Case,
Win 7 pro.

Processor, great choice.
Graphics, awesome but you don't really need a 580. A 560 or 570 would do you.
RAM, good choice.
SSD, what for? I hope you're using an HDD too.
PSU, nice but I doubt you need that much.
Case, yes.
Windows 7 Pro., is that 64bit or 32bit? Also, choosing Professional is correct.

HDD, paired with a samsung F3 or a WD Cavier black.
950W to give me head room in case i want to add a second card.
And i want a gtx 580 (never had the best card before) also gives more head room for future games.

also, going to played on a LG 24" 1920x1080 LED monitor over HDMI.

thanks for all you're input, new system is now up and running (need a new wireless USB adaptor). Got it all purring along nicely, inside a gorgeous NZXT Phantom case. Thanks for all the advice along the way.

(finally built a Asus p8p67 Pro, i7 2600K, 8gb Corsair Vengeance, 128 C300 and WD Caviar Black 1tb, with corsair 950W and the beast that started it all, the EVGA GTX 580) Been a long time coming, been planning a new build since the E8400 came out.
