IMO, yep the desktop is faster. The "mobility" parts are weaker than their desktop counterparts.

That mobo is open box, you know that? Here's some ideas:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 + COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus

The 955 is the same CPU with the multiplier set a notch lower.
