Hey guys, recently when I have been playing game, or when my computer becomes under-load, I start hearing a weird noise.
I assume its the HDD because my old computers from the early 2000's used to make the same sound.
I have no clue what the exact problem is, nor how to fix it

I have defragged the HDD twice and ran a disk check

I am currently using windows 8 professional 64 bit and the HDD is a 1TB barracuda.

Any help is much appreciated.

It's possible that it's a hard drive sound. You can download a hard drive health check program that will often tell you if anything is wrong. Seagate might have some utilities on their website if you dig around.

Hard drives are mechanical and eventually wear out. If the sound starts getting louder or harsher you might want to try swapping out the HDD for a new disk. Always keep your data backed up!

On a happier note, I have a WD Caviar Black drive that has been making funny noises for years now but still performs perfectly. I'm sure someday it will burst into flame, but just because it starts talking to you doesn't mean you're completely out of luck.
