How to choose a business class provider

I run a small 25 man software shop in the Atlanta area. We've been running on bonded t1's (about 3mbit) for many years however the cost is high and the speed is slow. I suspect with other options out there today that we can move to a much faster line while saving money. We do not host any applications from this facility so after hours up time isn't very important however outages still hurt. I believe we are paying about $450(ball park) per t1. I heard cable is about 50mbit for 250$ a month but I am not sure if that would be a good route?

So the question is....

What do you use?
What technology do you recommend?
What are the actual speeds your seeing?
What outages have you seen?
What response times are you seeing?

I greatly appreciate any responses!

I switched from T1 to DSL several years ago. The speed isn't better, but the cost is a lot less. If cable is available, that would be a very good and reliable solution.

Edit: Unlike T1, cable and DSL upload speeds are much slower. Cable probably is 50 Mbit/s download and 1 Mbit/s upload.
