My friend recently got into starcraft 2. He is interested in upgrading his video card.

I was surprised to see that his computer only had a 250 watt power supply and 9100 integrated nvidia graphics card.

^^ I can easily install and choose the correct video card for him, but at 250 watt power supply it really doesnt leave any options for gaming

I was thinking geforce 210 or 8600gt

but @ 250watt powersupply he is most likely taking a chance.

Any input guys?! Thank you very much!!

HD5570 would consume less power and be more powerful. A typical system with HD5570 would pull around 200watts.

The HD5570 does not need a 400w PSU. Under normal usage it maxes out at about 35w which is actually less than the 8600GT you are considering.

no that card doesn't require 400w. I know ATI's site says that, but theyre just plaing it safe to accound for sh**ty cheap generic PSU's.
