ok theres alot of ssd's out there and they emphasize data relbility such as "Enterprise-grade double-data protection" and so on. iv had a few ssd's and never lost anything so whats all that talk about? do files in windows OS get currupt or acvt funny and ya just dont know it or whats the deal

Solution
It's mostly marketing jargon. SSD manufacturers are trying to differentiate themselves from the competition.

SSDs have no moving parts so they are as reliable (if not more so) as HDDs.

Hard drives have been around since the late 1950s, and consumer hard drives have been around since the 1st personal computers were available in the 1970s, so the technology is pretty mature and reliable.

The 1st consumer SSDs (the Intel X-25E) were available in October 2008.
Since the tech is relatively new SSD manufacturers use terms like "Enterprise-grade" to reassure people who might be nervous about switching from HDD to SSD.

It's a big deal over in the enterprise side of the market. If you were the head of an IT Department in a large bank that processes thousands of credit card transactions per second all over the world, then you would defintely be worried about data reliabilty.

That's not to say that data reliability is not important over here in the consumer market. What I have found is that advertising and marketing departments get a little too creative with their ads.
