This system will be used primarily for gaming/ low end game development. The budget is ~$900. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!

most of it looks OK, but I'd consider a better video card (an HD 6850, HD 6870, or GTX 460),

Go with an already AMD-compatible cooler if you want to overclock. The Kingwin XT-1264 is a great inexpensive cooler (+14 C over ambient on high speed at 45 dB) . Alternately the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ (+13C over ambient at 54 dB)

You don't need 8 GB. Save a Ton of money and get a G.Skill DDR3-1333 (10666 MHz) 4GB kit for only $59.99

the money saved on RAM & Heatsink should easily make up the money needed to get a HD 6850 or GTX 460 1 GB
