Hi guys

So finally I decided to buy a new rig, but I some doubts about ram speed.

I'm going to get this mobo: Asus p8p67 Pro
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_PRO/

According to asus:
4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 Hz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

So I have two options for the same price.

G.Skill Sniper DDR3 1866 PC3-14900 8GB 2x4GB CL9
G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 8GB 2x4GB CL8

- Is it a good idea to get the Sniper modules since their base speed is 1866 and the mobo is 1600 (without overclocking)?
- Is there a big difference between 1600 and 2133(OC) speeds?

The CPU I've chosen is Intel Core I5 2500K 3.3Ghz Box Socket 1155 and the graphic card Radeon HD 6870, I'll be using it for gaming :)

Thanks!

I would definitely go with the Ripjaws X since you won't have to OC to get them to run at the designed speed, and they have tighter timings.

There is *maybe* a 1-2% difference between 1600 and 2133MHz so you may notice a handful of frames p/sec difference, but in my opinion it is not worth the hassle of OCing the RAM. Leave the RAM alone at 1600MHz (it's sweet spot for Sandy Bridge) and work on OC'ing the CPU.
