Strange booting problem

Hi all, this is one of my first posts here, and I've got a small problem with my newly bought system.

If I shut down my computer for a few hours and want to turn it back on, I hear the fan spinning for a second or two and the neon lights turning on, and all of a sudden all shuts down like if I pulled the power cord off.

That's my motherboard, Asus P6T SE equipped with a Core i7 930.

I've got a X-Power-Pro PSU bought from newegg, 650-watt.

As long as the ATX cable is plugged, the PC turns on then turns off in 2 seconds. If I unplug + replug the cable, all powers on well, but if I tilt the tower it will turn off.

The problem stayed for a few days, then was gone. Recently, after a few weeks without doing it, the problem reappeared.

Some people told be about flashing my BIOS, but it didn't do the trick. Any ideas on that?

  1. Hello and welcome to THG.

Sounds like a loose connector. Try to reconnect everything and tilt the tower and feel wiring to see if you notice anything loose.
