Sata hard drives will fit toshiba satellite a660

I have a toshiba satellite 640 gb mk6465gsx hdd that has failed and i want to know what i can replace it with. Can i use any other 2.5" sata drive or do i need to find the exact same drive?

Any brand and model of 2.5-inch SATA hard drive will work in your laptop, just as long as you don't go above 1TB capacity.

If you had to replace your drive with the exact same model that would be an impossible position to be in if you think about it. What if that drive model was no longer available? That would mean the entire laptop would have to be scrapped!

Incidentally, one of my computers is a Satellite A660 too. A brilliant piece of kit. Not the cheapest laptop at the time by any means (almost double the price of a similar spec Acer or Packard Bell) but worth every penny.
