I am quite ignorant in this domain. I am buying a new desktop. And I would like to get some advice.
At the moment I consider to use the Asus P8H77-M/CSM (or Gigabyte GA H77-D3H) motherboard; an Intel I5-3470 processor; Memory: Kingston HyperX 2X4GB 1600 DDR3; Graphic card: I have not decided yet between Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX650 1GB or EVGA GT640 2GB. (Windows 8, 64bit).
I use a NEC Multisync wuxi2 24901920x1200 screen and I need it to show a very sharp image. I should note that I do not intend to use this computer for gaming. For some reason, however, I always need gamers’ graphic cards because the non-gamers cards yield a less satisfactory picture.
It is important for me that the computer will be quiet. It should be reliable as I use it for work. I realize that part of the noise results from the case and fans (I will probably have the Thermaltake new soprano,+Seasonic S12II 620W power supply). However, some of the noise results from the HD. If I understand correctly the WD blue and black are noisier than the red and green (about 30dB versus 20 dB respectively). Regarding the red and green I understand that the red is more reliable, but is mainly recommended for storage. Maybe the case makes this dilemma irrelevant so I can consider the noisy and cheaper blue or the noisy and more reliable black WD?
I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice regarding the HD: Can the WD red be used as the main and only HD, and may the fact that it is slower hinder?
Other comments and advice regarding the computer are welcome.
Looking forward to hearing your response,
