Single Beep

Installed a new motherboard with the cpu and memory pre-installed. when switched on the computer started when to the option to start in the last known configuration i entered that (also tried safe mode) the computerwent to fire up but made a single beep and went the page last known confiuration.

  1. That would be a major hardware upgrade and as a minimum will need a repair install of windows (preferably full install). You are trying to run the system on the drivers for your old hardware!

    OTOH,,,, If you have access to a DOS boot floppy and have your windows available either through a dvd/cd or in a directory on your hdd you can run setup from DOS [we're talking XP here??NO??] ,,it will go through the usual hijinks and eventually,, might,, give you the option to repair current install,, if not then a complete install is in order as rolli59 has suggested...:)
