Hi
I want to upgrade my computer for as little money as possible.
My current specs are as follows.

E6300 C2D 1.86Ghz
Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 (rev. 1.0)
2 Gb Corsair PC2-5300 XMS2 (4 x 512mb)
ATI HD4770
650w Power Supply

I have already bought a 64Gb ssd and the 150Gb hard drive i currently use is more than enough for my music, games etc. I was thinking of just getting new CPU, motherboard(maybe) and memory, but cant decide which way to go.

1. Q6600 and keep my mobo and get some better memory (4Gb is max mobo can handle) , then maybe buy a 1GB HD5770

2. i3 530 , Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H and 4Gb ddr3

3. E6300 2.8Ghz , Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L , 4Gb ddr2

Can anyone give me their opinion on which would be best , or advise a better upgrade.
Im also willing to consider an AMD upgrade if someone can point me in the right direction, havent a clue when it comes to AMD.

Thanks

Option 2 all the way If you want to modernize! Option 1 if you can find the Q6600 cheap.

I am currently running option 2 and i'm impressed with it's performance for the price.

Ok , option 2 it is then. Just a couple of quick questions before i buy.

1. The i3 540 is slightly cheaper than the i3 530 even though it runs at a quicker speed, whats the reason for it being cheaper and which is the best one to get. difference is only about £5

2. Which of the following memory kits would you recommend
EXTRA VALUE 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit 1.5V CL9
Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit Unbuffered CL9 (9-9-9-24)
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10666 Gold i5 Memory Kit 1.65V CL9(9-9-9-20)

The 540 cheaper is a better buy reason is unknown it is just a better deal. I would select on price between the OCZ and Corsair. The OCZ is slightly faster but not noticeable.

I'd go for
q6600 +2gb ram+(2x512mb) total of 3gb and a 5770 :)
