Upgrade

Hi guys,

I am looking to upgrade my computer mainly for the new games coming out within the new year, namely Black Ops, Diablo 3, Max Payne 3 and Duke Nukem Forever (if it ever comes out! )

My current specs are:

Gigabyte G43 MB
E7300
Antec Sonata case WITH PSU
4830
4GB DDR2 800Mhz

Not looking for a complete overhaul, but some advice what route to go down to help run these games nice and smoothly.

Rolli59 - Apologies, the PSU is 750w.

Also i was looking around the £150 mark in terms of budget, but could stretch higher if needed.

Depending on monitor resolution your system would benefit most from a new GPU. Options like HD5770, HD6850 and GTX460 would all be a nice upgrade. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-radeon-hd-6870-radeon-hd-6850,2782.html
Overclocking the CPU to 3GHz+ would give an extra boost.

The 5770 is the best option now, cos of the budget but you can get the 6850.

Looks like the best way to go is a new GPU, i think i might look at the 2 cards you suggested and upgrade from the 4830.

Plus i might look into overclocking the CPU (even though i've never tried it before!) and read some how-to guides on the site.

You can find guides on overclocking Core2's here on the forums... look it up in the overclocking section.I'll recommend the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ cooler for your overclocking needs. Cheap and very effective at its task!
