Why is the capacity on my external harddrive less than it should be?

Hello,
I have a 1TB external hard drive and I've been moving lots of videos and photos onto it. Now in the Get Info (when it stopped letting me copy photos) I looked to see if it was really full and it's saying that it's capacity is only 372.61GB? How can I correct this? I really want to move all my files!

Are you certain thats total cap and not whats free? Its normal for drives to have a little less cap than the actual number on the drive but thats a MASSIVELY bigger difference than there should be.

try check it with disk management, see if it can detect the full capacity and partition setting..

Yeah, when I'm looking at the get info it says:

capacity: 372.61 GB
available: 340 KB
used: 372.61 GB on disk

I just need to know how to modify this or open it up somehow, I'm completely confused as to how this has happened. I know i have a lot of files but 1 Tb should be more than enough for it all xx

Sorry, I'm not techy at all, what do you mean/how do I check that? Is that in settings? x
