APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Today BUDGET RANGE: $200-400

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: videos, movies, runescape. a card that will last for years...and kill

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: GT220/crosiar hx 650w

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: antec 902 case, 650w crosair hx psu, i5 750 processor,windows 7 64bit, 4 gb 1066 ram, 500gb hdd, Mobo intel p55 x231r ....its out of an xps8000

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg

PARTS PREFERENCES: nvidia but open to ati (*cringes* because i have no idea about ati)

OVERCLOCKING: overclocking processor/overclocking gpu. my mobo wont OC yet but thats next

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920/1080 22inch lg flatscreen

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: case has 2 120mm front intake fans. 1 120mm video card intake fan, 1 200mm top exhaust fan 1 120mm rear exhaust fan. runs 21-28c depending on time of day. my kid brothers play runescape and i have not yet gotten into gaming but will in the near future. i want something that will kill graphics....

GTX480 produce MORE heat than GTX470.
Well, if you sure you can handle that "bad boy" then go for it.
But, if you ask me then i would stay with GTX470, that card is FAST enough to play any games at 1920x1080 with High setting.

Mobo intel p55 x231r ....its out of an xps8000. so im not sure the brand? dell i guess?

you dont think its too lil or too much? i hear afterburner is 1 of the best overclocking and its a relativly new card. will my case keep it cool?

hmm i just calc'd out the wattage needed for 2 460s and 2 470s. id need to get a bigger psu. that being said i plan on buying a sandy bridge i7 and motherboard. ill just make that another build next year. as for this computer ill leave it to 1 gpu.

so its either a gtx 470 or hd5870.

1)which is better/last longer?

2) any other models? looking for a card to stand the test of time.
