Hello,

I have an ASUS P5N-E SLI with 2 x 2GB Dual Channel RAM, but it only seems to be using half of it. So, with one stick in it only shows 1GB and with both sticks in it's only showing 2GB. Is it using the other half for something or is it not detecting it or what?

Thanks.

Are you saying you have two of these kits?

Kingston’s KHX6400D2LLK2/2G is a kit of two 1GB memory modules. That's why your system only shows 1GB when only one DIMM is installed and 2GB with both DIMMs installed. It working exactly as it's suppose to.

Where did you get the info that shows that each DIMM has a capacity of 2GB? Do you have links to this info?

The following is Kingston's own datasheet for the KHX6400D2LLK2/2G:

Well, that explains it, upon seeing the individual sticks labeled as 2GB I was under the impression that each stick had a 2GB capacity rather than working as a pair to get 2GB. I had even looked it up on Kingston and somehow totally missed the (kit of 2) portion, my error, thanks for the assistance.
