ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
My old card is dead and I have to buy a new one. As I don't want to upgrade other components till September 2011, I'm afraid that I may face some CPU bottlenecks with a new card... I would like to know if it makes sense to buy a GTX 460 with my old CPU? Or should I buy a less powerful card like GTS 450, 5750 or 5770?

Thank you for your time and answers :)

Either a 150$ 5770, or get a 220$ 460 1gb.
I would go with the 460, you could get a 768mb version, their cheaper and will still give you better performance then what your 7800 could ever do.

Notice: With that resolution you'd be fine to buy either a 5770 or the 460 768mb and play games on high with more than 30fps.

How far I should overclock it?

That resolution will be easily smoked by a 460 768MB, which are cheaper but definetly outperform the 5770. your PSU can handle both.

and my buddy has a similar processor and he managed to get over to 3.3GHz on it, lucky, but the chip is a good overclocker. good luck!
