High Speed but Limited Threading

I'd like to get some advice on a new build for a purpose-built desktop workstation. It will be used with a LAMP software stack and several mostly single threaded applications. Limited graphics. So while some multi-processing is needed for a few concurrent apps, the main goal is blazing single-threaded speed. This is for a home business and time is literally money. My current E8400 system with Raptor drives is too slow.

The focus of most of what I fine on the high end is gaming and graphics, which doesn't help me ... I want to go really fast mostly in "one lane".

I do use several concurrent apps, so a quad processor seems to make sense -- but moving to six clearly wont help me. I'm planning on investing in SSD for the non-backup drives, so money is tight. This is for business use so a rock solid stable build is needed as well (no fussy water cooled overclockers).

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Approximate Purchase Date: (e.g.: right away)

Budget Range: under a $1,000 including SSD, but not the monitor

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Single threaded performance of custom apps, software development

Parts Not Required: High end graphics not needed, high capacity drive not needed

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: (newegg.com of course)

Country of Origin: ??

Parts Preferences: Intel SSD, WD Raptors ... but I'm flexible. Only the Monitor is being kept from my old E8400 system.

Overclocking: Yes but really stable

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200

Additional Comments: looks don't matter
