I recently bought an SSD and did a clean install of Windows so that I could change my RAID mode from IDE to AHCI, and everything was going fine until I tried to plug in my external hard drive. When I plug it in, it makes a noise like it's recognized, but then there's nothing when I go to try and find it, not even in Disk Management, so I'm really stumped.
I tried installing different USB drivers and changing some BIOS settings, but no luck. I also tried it on another computer running Windows 7 to make sure that the drive was good and it worked like a charm. I would really prefer if I didn't have to re-install Windows, but at this point it seems like that may be the only thing to fix it. Does anyone have any clue? Thanks
