I'll preface this post with the fact that I am still very new to building systems and therefor do have a slight lack in knowledge on some things.

I've spent the last hour or so reading various articles on the Z68 motherboards and it seems the more I read the more I become confused about the major differences between the Asus, Gigabyte, AsRock, etc.

I'm looking to build a top-knotch gaming rig (starting with one GTX-580 and will eventually SLI a second). Can someone explain to me the best Mobo in this series for gaming, and what exactly makes it the best? This would be extremely helpful, thanks.

It is not the motherboard that makes all the difference for gaming. All the brands you mentioned are quality and make many models each, you simply want a good board with all the features you need, lets start with SLI for great price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
