Hello,I have an ASUS G53JW-XA1 Republic of Gamers 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop with 6gb of memory, so I want to upgrade to 8gb or 12gb, what do you recommend and what kind (or type) of memory?

Anyways, yes, your computer uses DDR3-1066. You have 4 slots available for modules. Take a look at how many you are using right now, if you are using 3/4 slots, then just buy 1x2GB stick to get you 8GB.

Also buddy, please dont double post your question on forums. Refer back to you other post on why you dont need it. But if you got money to burn for nothing, feel free to follow the link and buy your RAM..
