Hello,

I just upgraded to an I2500k using 8 gig ripjaw memory on a Asrock PRO 3 mobo. First thing I did just for curiosity sake is run WEI. It came up with a 5.9. This does not seem that great to me. Anyone experienced the same?

Are you running Vista? That would cap your top score at 5.9 max

My i7 2600K is 7.6 stock, and 7.8 @ 4.5 ghz. I have 8 GB of GSkill Ripjaws 1600 too and that also gets 7.8

You're right... I'm running Vista. I was unaware that it had a cap. Additionally, it does not show my overclock speed under system settings with this processor. It showed it fine with my Q6600.

Thanks for the input... I almost pulled the rest of my hair out!

Are you scoring 5.9 on the base score, or the processor score. The base score that is reported is the lowest component test score. WEI will cap mechanical HDDs at a 5.9, meaning that if you have a HDD your lowest component score is going to be 5.9 for the HDD and so your base score is going to be 5.9.

If Vista's limit is 5.9 then the min / max of my hardware reports 5.9. I am thinking of getting windows 7! AHH! :)  Can I borrow a hundee?

there are plenty of legal ways of getting windows 7 for free or at a max of 20ish dollars. Hopefully you have a son/daughter in college, that would help a lot.

Yeah your overclock won't show if you auto OC it in BIOS. At least on my board that is. I manually redid mine later to get some less heat and now it shows up under WEI

My OC doesn't show up in WEI even though I manually OCed. I have a feeling that WEI uses the CPUID instruction vendor string to obtain CPU frequency.
