My iomega external hard drive file structure corrupted

My iomega external hard drive reported by Windows that the file structure could e corrupted. Should I have the data recovered or is there an easier fix?

do you have backups of the data?

you can try chkdsk to fix any file system errors

open cmd and type " chkdsk x: /r /f " and hit enter to see if you can fix it. Be warned this may sometimes not work cause lost of data
x is the drive letter of the omega drive
