they'll perform about the same as refrence goes. even in the listed benchmarks it's pretty close. the superclocked evega will outpreform a standard 5750 for sure btu if you look at an overclocked 5750 its still gonna be pretty even still. now if you plan to crossfire or sli later i'd say go 450 as sli scales better than crossfire.

I would go for the GTS450. If they are same in performance, the nVidia card would at least give you CUDA and PhysX.

I would base it on price and bundle, things like warranty and extra cables etc.
Also look up some reviews that contain the games you play as there is usually a bias one way or the other to a lot of games some markedly so.
As a one to one comparison taking all that out of it i would say the 450 is the better card of the two.

And by better you mean slower except on the models with the highest factory overclock?

  Ironic really you pick up someone on reading properly regarding a reply I made on another thread and do the exact same your self here.

This is what was asked.

No one is discussing stock cards here my friend.

For someone in USA , newegg has the gts 450 msi cyclone for 125.00 with 20 dollar rebate=105.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Another model is 110.00 after rebate 99.99
Thats more price cuts in 3 days than the 5770/5750 saw (without competition) for about a year , lol

Can I make good use of Physx on nvidia gts 450(I think that in realtime physx game like Mafia 2, its physx will be useless) ? I really don't want to overclock any card myself.
My required gaming is not very high. I just want to max out games at 1280x1024 resolution not more than that because my monitor can't go beyond that. For example crysis at enthusiast at this resolution with 4x AA and 16x AF.

I wouldnt have thought it would be that good on its own with PhysX enabled

If you are talking about maxing out Crysis even at 1280x1024 you are looking at entirely the wrong cards. If that's REALLY what you want then I guess something like a GTX 470 would be about right but I highly suggest you do not buy a video card based on maxing out anti aliasing in one game.

No of course I can't even think of maxing anti-aliasing in crysis. I just want to max out at 4x or 8x AA and 16x AF(these aren't hard and fast figures. I can of course accept a little less than this)

Also can anyone tell me how will GTA 4 run on both cards? I heard it is cpu intensive. I have an e5400.

My friend told me that nvidia fermi has far better tessellation than the ati 5xxx series. Is that right? Will I be able to use dx11 features on Nvidia GTS 450?

I believe x4 is the max AA in Crysis so that is exactly what you are talking about.
The GTS 450 is DX11 so yes you will be able to use DX11 features in games that support it. It will do alright with GTA4 at your resolution but an E5400, especially if it is at stock is going to give you trouble. OC it up to 3.3-3.5ghz and it should do ok.

Crysis takes a huge hit at 8x AA or more on graphics cards for little visual improvements. Of course he's running at a smaller resolution, so he may want a higher AA.
450 superclocked>5750
450=dx11, Physx, 3D(of course both of these things would bring down your performance considerably.)
5750=dx11

Best solution

I can max out crysis at that resolution with my 5770. -except for AA. (EDITED)
But i can't max out metro 2033, i can barely play it at 1024x768 maxed out, meaning max AA, max AF, in DX11 and all DX11 features enabled. And i have to overclock my card to be able to play at that resolution and enjoy the game over 20 frames/sec.
I get up to 45, usually stays from 25 to 32fps.

@abdulrehmans if you want a card that can play games at 1280x1024 maxed you will need a gtx470 or above. But usually something around 5770/gtx460/5830 will suffice games up to 1920x1080.

So any of those 5750 or 450 will do just fine with most games. Nvidia scales better in some games, ATI(these cards ware made under ATI license, they still hold the name ) in other. I suggest you check, in the games you want to play, witch card gives you best performance. I would have a hard time choosing myself.

Probably i would go for gts450, nvidia usually has more stable drivers from what i know.

From the benchmarks I've seen an HD5770 should average about 20 fps on enthusiast with 4xAA at 1280x1024.

I wanted to show you otherwise but i do not have the game installed anymore so i can not prove that it can :)  .
The review i made does not contain that resolution. And you ware right, from 4x to 8x the frame rate drops by a ton:(  , something like 10fps based on my tests. http://www.frozentek.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewt...

Ok, thanks guys. I think I could do without AA. I'm going with GTS 450. A friend said that there is some performance improvement in future drivers so I may even get further improvement. Will a corsair 400 W(80 percent efficiency) suffice for the superclocked version?

the corsair will have no issue, more then enough amps on its 12v rail

By the way am I right in my assumption that the Nvidia GTS 450 has better tessellation than even the ati 5770?
