Hey Guys,

The problem I have is: I play World of Warcraft and in a 25 man raid I have to turn my graphics all the way
down on low and I still only get 30 fps.

The system I have is: Dell Studio XPS 8100

i5 dual core 650 (/w Hyper Thread)

6 Gigs ddr3

640 gig HD

Raideon HD 5670 1 gig

I guess what I am asking is, I think this system should be able to handle WoW better than that, the resolution I play at is around 1000 x 700 ( not exact of course, cant remember exact) cant play at any higher rez because for more problems with fps (monitor 19")

Any sugggestions on what I can change/upgrade for better performance with this game?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Would the 5770 HD be better choice? Also, would my CPU handle the 5770? Not looking to max settings out for the game but would atleast like to run on "good" settings.

I am an ATI fan is there an equivalent to the 460/465 for radeon? Also, if I get the 460/465 or a radeon equivalent, will my CPU/MOBO be able to handle it?

Thanks Again

At least you're smart enough to know that the original 350watt PS won't be good enough for you new card, however, after reading the info on the link it really doesn't tell you too much. Look for a PS with at least 40AMPS. Stay away from the "watts" thing. Try a Corsair. They have one in that similar price range with enough amps and it's a better "brand" shall we say.....

If ya wanna play to the fullest, have to drop the fan thing and be a "hardware whore" :).... go with what puts out the best numbers. If WoW is "ya thing", recognize that the game significantly favors nVidia cards, tho it narrows at 2560 x 1600 resolution.

The 6870 get 84 fps at 1680 x 1050 ($220 for the Asus)

The 470 gets 102 fps at 1880 x 1050 from the same brand and price ($220)

a 21% difference

The Radeon hd 5770 is a great card if your just trying to play wow and you can get the his brand for 100 dollars with a rebate at newegg.com. Thats much cheaper than all the above mentioned gpus. with your system it would be ridiculous to try and put a gtx 570 or anything else mentioned above except for a 6800 series radeon card, but they wont preform much better than the 5770. for the money youll spend you could get 2 5770's. your cpu will hold you back on those really cpu heavy games anyway.
