Gaming PC ~1000e looking of opinions

Greetings! Long time reader, first time poster :)

So my old setup is getting a bit outdated and I'm building a new computer mostly for gaming. This is what I have in mind:

CPU: Intel Core i5-760 2.8 GHz

CPU Cooler: Thermalright MUX-120 (planning on OC'ing to ~3.6 GHz maybe more later on)

MB: Asus Sabertooth 55i Intel P55 LGA1156

Memory: 4GB Dual Kit Ripjaws DDR3-1333 F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH 7-7-7-21 aka. F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH

Graphics: Nvidia 470gtx / Ati 6870 -- not sure about this, any advice here? Would an OC'd 460gtx (eg. gigabytes) be a better choice?
Forgot to add that I play at 1920x1200 and really dislike choppy gameplay :p

PSU: Corsair AX750W

Case: Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced

So far this is looking to cost me somewhere between 1000-1100 euro and I'm hoping to keep it in that general price range.
The computer will be mostly for gaming (SC2, WoW Cataclysm etc.) and some photoshopping.

I live in Finland so prices are a bit higher here than most other places :)

Any and all opinions are welcome. Mostly I'm having trouble deciding on the graphics card, but if you see something that's odd or not good then please do point it out.

Thanks!

Looks really nice so far! Here are my personal recommendations:

If you can get one, the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ is a super good deal. Great performance, should be pretty cheap also.

For video cards - I just bought a MSI Talon Hawk GTX 460 (something like that) - it's an OC version that runs at 810mhz by default, and brags about outperforming a GTX 470. If you overclock it a little further, it benches faster than a GTX 480 on 3dmark even. Anyhow, I'd suggest that, the EVGA FTW GTX 460, or else a 6870 right now.

If you went with either of those cards (and weren't planning on going SLI), then you could drop your power supply down to 550-600w as well.

Anyhow, everything looks nice! Good luck with the build!

Thanks for taking the time to look through my build!

About the CM Hyper 212+, I've read through a ton of test and apparently the Mux-120 is slightly better (or am I mistaken) and price wise there's about a 10e difference in favor of the Hyper 212+. I think both coolers should be able to handle the little bit of OC'ing I'll be doing. I could be confused though, so much info to go through :D

Looks like I'll have to read some reviews on the 460gtx Hawk. The price difference between that and a standard 470gtx is about 20-30e right now. Hard to say which is more "bang for the buck". I also had some thoughts on the 6870 and I've never really liked the hassle with ati drivers. Although things might've changed since I last had an ati card. Are they any good nowadays?

I don't think I'll be going SLI anytime soon. Sounds like a good idea to drop the PSU to 600w or so (need to check prices though).

ATI drivers are much better than they used to be, since AMD took over. Right now, I'd make the decision between a 6850, 6870, 460 and 470 almost solely on price/what you can afford.

The Mux looks pretty good actually, and if it's only a 10e difference then go for it. It's triple the price of the Hyper 212+ (60 vs 20$) where I am right now, which then isn't worth it... They are both quite similar, so either way you'll be sitting at 3.6ghz without any trouble.

I've never really been a fan of ATI either. Last card I tried of theirs was a 4870, which I absolutely hated. Had so many problems with it, that I haven't gone back since (in my own computers at least). I have sold a few, and put a few in friends computers, and they apparently are much better now, but don't feel like trying them out again myself.

As for the 460... The one I bought is the MSI Hawk Talon Attack. Pretty lame name, but a nice card. It's a seperate version from the MSI Gtx460 Hawk, clocked a little bit faster etc. Here's the only review I was able to find: http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/...

I figured that I'd pick it up and have some fun OCing it etc, rather than just get a 470. Either way though, I think you'll be doing great. It's a good time to buy a video card...

So basically I can just drop out the 6850 since I'm looking for performance along the lines of a 470 / 6870 / highly OC'd 460. After checking some prices though I feel that it'll be a battle between a 470gtx and 6870. Tough choices...

Nice build! i own the MUX-120 and the 212+ both are very good.
I prefer the TR unit though cuz it's dead quiet and comes with excellent thermal paste on par with AS5.
I also have a CM 690II basic and it's very good as well and i know the advanced has more features and fans.Nice case!
You could save some money and go with an HX750 which is excellent btw i have one of those too.

Awesome, thanks for the reassurance on the case + cooler!

The HX750 is 8e cheaper than the AX750 here...stupid I know, and the higher efficiency of the AX750 will probably save me that 8e inside a few months :D

I've decided to go for a 470gtx. Any opinions on this card? : Gigabyte GV-N470OC-13I

Went with the Gigabyte 470gtx and ordered all the parts :)

Thanks for all the input guys!
