New build, second opinion needed

Hello, I am currently in need of a new computer that will be able to play some forthcoming titles. I intend on playing COD Black Ops, as well as SC2 and
I would love a second opinion before i start buying parts, therefore:

Parts
Case: Cooler Master HAF X
PSU: XFX 750W Black Edition
MB: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
CPU: Intel I7-950 8MB Cache
RAM: 2 x Corsair XMS3 1600MHz CL8 2 x 2GB (8GB in total)
GFX: Waiting for the Radeon 6970
HD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

My budget doesn't stretch very far away from this, 100 dollars at most, and I will be needing the computer from the 20th november. Therefore, I do not intend on waiting on the Sandy Bridge processors from Intel, nor the new NVidia series (AMD fanboy).

More about build opinion needed
  1. Nice build there, i wish i could buy one build like that :P , the only think is, you need a triple channel RAM not a dual channel.

    So get this RAM:
    G.SKILL PI Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7T-6GBPI $149.99

(These are good for if you planning on overcloking due to the CAS LATENCY 7.)

And also i was just looking at this MOBO and i think for it's prize it's really good because it's got all the new feature and is capable of 3 way CF so i would change it for the one you picked:

ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Was: $299.99Now: $225.99

  2. That's open box I'd stay away from it.
  3. Well would this one be better? I don't know much about open box items.
ASUS Rampage III Gene LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard Was: $239.99 Now: $229.99
    [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131658]

Also has all the new feature and can do 2 way CF at x16/x16.
  4. it's a great mobo but mATX offers many disadvatages like less connecters(especcially less pci-e which means less expansion cards). It also cools less and overall you pay for compactness.

SO IMO unless you want mATX don't get mATX. I was in the same dilema once because It's rog board and has cool features but in the end it's better to get an ATX board if you have the space to accomodate it.
  5. Allright i didnt even relise it was mATX, so if this one is ATX would it be better then the ones i suggested or should he just keep the one he picked?
ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Was: $299.99Now: $289.99

edit: Just found out the mobo he picked is an open box is well
  6. the rampage III formula is pretty much the replacement of the one he listed. They're both good but the rampage III formula is newer with all the new features and stuff. So if you can afford it it is a great board
  7. Nice build. Drop the RAM to triple channel and get an SSD instead of the regular drive (unless you have LOTS of data to store). For SC2, you won't need the 6970.. any of today's cards will do. I don't know about Black Ops.
  8. Love the OCZ 60GB SSD! Throw your O/S on there and your software installs and use the spinpoint for data. It'll FLY.
