1600 into a 1333 motherboard

I know i should have searched but this is from my phone and i wont be by my comp for a while. Anyways i have some 1600 layign around and was going to build my girlfriend a comp. the motherboard i was going to get accepts 1333 max. will 1600 still work?

yes the 1600 will still work it will just run at 1333 speeds. Just like you car may have a speed limiter of 200kph doesnt mean you cant drive it slower. Just make sure its on the motherboards compatable list, it may or may not work if its not on the list.

Memory is sold at the highest rated speed it is guaranteed to work at, the motherboard processor combination, or user override, determines the actual speed that the system will run it at.
