Video related crashing

I Have a relitivly new computer:

955 phenom 2
5850 xfx card 1gig
4gigs of basalik crucial memory
ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 AMD Motherboard

But the problem is, when i put pretty much any video player into full screen bar windows media player it acts like its being electrocuted ( my speakers go butzzzzztztzdfdskjdsdfz and the screen looks like what happens when a 2 year old gets a crayon*Its very thin strips of color in a horizontal layer type of dealeo*
then shuts off, it did something similar to this when i played the game "Age of conan" But not nearly as much, and sometimes it would even be so kind as to give me a blue screen before it restarted..not that it would keep the bsod up for more than 2 litterly 2 seconds so i could figure out what is wrong.

Anyways im living in fear everyday that the next time i fullscreen a video my computer will harness all of its rage and electrocute me or something  any help or reasons why it would be doing this would be awesome.
