Hd 4870 x2 Only 1 GPU is active no matter what!

My problem is I cannot run my second gpu, regardless what I do. Here are some photos to make it easier for you to understand.

I already tried updating driver, reset bios, reinstall windows etc...

The second gpu is not dead it just wont run for some reason, I already checked ccc catalyst AI is on.

For some odd reason it shows 3 displays in windows, yet I only have 1 monitor plugged in.

Also want to mention 1 gpu says "Primary" other says "Linked"

More about 4870 active matter what
  1. If using the latest drivers I believe you will need to install the associated hotfix otherwise the second one won't work.

The fact that three things appear when right clicking the tray icon is strange, I only have two, however it does not mean you have three connected.

The primary and linked is how it should look.

Now, how do you know your second one is not working as it should?
  2. When I run any game now I get low fps, I used to have 2 gpu working and had very good fps in games. So clearly the second gpu is not working, not to mention when I alt tab to check the second gpu load it's at zero.

Hopefully someone has an idea to why it not working -.-
  3. This is common with dual gpu cards and the same applies to Nvidia cards ware one or both gpus fail. If it does not show up in device manager nor in rbflash then the gpu is bricked. Dual planar cards had one advantage compared to single pcb cards as the defective side can be replaced.
  4. Both gpu/cards show up on device manager.
  5. Dual GPU cards are the excrement of Satan, they just get different stickers slapped on them, if you're going to do CF or SLi then do it the way nature intended and use two separate cards.
  6. crossfire is enabled, i presume?
  7. I don't think I can enable it on hd4870x2 unless I have 2x 4870 in my computer

unless I am forgetting something ==?
  8. As mentioned before, you must have the hotfixed drivers.

10.9a is needed for your second GPU to work again, 10.9 had issues.

Pretty funny statement considering we're talking about computers xD
  11. Dual cards is what the Great Worm Spirit intended for us. ;)
