Free download driver for external storage device

My computer does not read external storage device like 500 GB External Hard disk

The driver for all external hard drives is built in to Windows -- it's a Microsoft generic mass storage driver.
As such, there is nowhere to download it from because Windows should already have it by default.

Sometimes it's just a drive-letter issue, Windows often fails to assign one to external hard drives but you can assign one manually. Tutorial here: http://www.techfleece.com/2011/08/15/how-to-manually-assign-or-change-a-drive-letter-in-windows/

What brand is your external hard drive?
Generally, nowadays, every manufacture has their own official websites to provide many free tools support for his customers. You could check it there.
