You don't have SATA3 and USB 3 on those SLI mobos. The HD 6870 is more powerful.

If you get AMD, you should always go with ATI. They just work well together. AMD + NVidia = Less than good

You might be able to shave a little off the cost with combos.

Like this case and DVD burner combo.

Or this X4 955 & OCZ RAM combo...I know that there have been reports of OCZ RAM problems, but I believe that's mostly been on the Intel side, where max voltage is more of a limitation than for AMD.

Please provide some proof of that. The last time this "myth" was tested was 3 years ago right here on Tom's (Article)which debunked it. I have yet to see any solid proof, other than random people in random forums spouting that AMD + Nvidia = bad.

Sorry for the derail. I just hating seeing people say that w/o any solid evidence behind it.

basically the AMD + NVidia = Bad is only for multiple GPUs, because AMD mobos don't support SLI (with good reason -- why help your competition?) and the NVidia boards are basically last-generation boards (AM2+ boards updated with DDR3).

Single GPU, there is no issue.

Lol kao, that's like a rule of thumb. AMD chipsets are terra-bad with Nvidia Multi-GPU so like SLI. The only thing that Nvidia has for the AMD boards is the 980N and that chipset is terrible for AMD chips, especially OCing.

Best solution

For less than $800 you will have a rock solid system like you have it. The 955BE is a freakin' incredible cpu and oc's like a dream. I say go for it. You will want an aftermarket cooler if you decide to OC the 955BE but the stock fan works at spec just fine. Best of luck.
