Hello,
What is the maximum power supply that can be installed in an Acer Aspire T690. I have bought a 1GB HD5650 video card and the PC won't boot. The existing power supply is 250W and I have realised the card needs 400w minimum.

Solution
The limit is only the Physical size of the PSU no wattage limit. HD5670 runs on most modern 300watt PSU's and there is something else wrong if your computer does not start with the 250watt PSU since it should not be pulling over 200watts when starting up.

Thanks for your assistance. I changed the power supply to a 450W and it still didn't work.

I believe the problem was actually that the card was a PCI-E 2.1 and my motherboard has a PCI-E 1.0 slot.
The PCI-E 2.0 cards work with a PCI-E 1.0 but the 2.1 doesn't. I changed the card to a Nvidia GT 430 which was a PCI-E 2.0 and it worked fine.
