How can I tell if my PCIe ports are PCIe 2.0 or 2.1? I have one x16 and three x1. I'm interested in the difference between the two, figuring out which one I have and backwards compatability. I've been focusing more on the server side and haven't had much time to look at the newer desktop technologies. Thanks
well pci express 2.0 and 1.0 is backwards compatible so 2.1 and 2.0 theorically should be compatibles, if that helps any , good luck
It does help some. But my thing is if I have 2.0 I want to buy a 2.0 card if I have 2.1 I want the 2.1 card. I looked at the motherboard specs for my PC and cannot find the info.
I may even have just have PCI Express 1.0. I have a IPIEL-LA3 Eureka 3 motherboard.
hmm, never herd of that model , what company makes it? that mobo looks like a hp asus mobo, if im correct , tell me if im wrong thanks
It's made by pegatron for HP.
I looked up whitepapers from Intel and I see one says it is PCI e 1.1 and the other says 2.2. I looked up chipset info for 82801 PCI bridge which says it is 1.1 BUT I also have listed a ICH10 Family PCI Express Root port which says PCI e 2.2. That just confuses me more.
There aren't really any PCIe 2.1 motherboards yet. 2.1 add-on cards are backwards compatible with 2.0 connectors. ICH10 is PCIe 2.0.
Well I really want to go by the technical aspect, not it fits it works. I would like to find out if I have 1.1 or 2.1. If anyone can help me figure that out it would be great.
I already said you have 2.0.
So unique name... Where did you find this out? Just so I know for future reference? Sorry I didn't see your post up there. How did you know to go with the ICH and not the 80201?
ICH10 does include 6 lanes of PCIe 1.1 which are typically used for x4 and x1 slots.
what about the x1 slots? Also, How did you know to go with the ICH10 and not the 82801? One white peper asays 1.1 the other says 2.2? Basically, what mady you look at the ICH10 specs over the other? Thanks
Nice pic. Didn't think of a review site. Trying to find that on Intel is like pulling teeth.
nice motherboard picture, well they say a picture is worth a 1000 words somethimes :P
