Hi guys, I have right now an ATI HD 5770 on my PC, and I was wondering what would be better... I could buy another 5770 and crossfire them, OR, I could sell this 5770 that I have to a friend, and buy a 5850 (NOT crossfire), I think the results are just about the same, but I'm not sure.

What would you guys do, and what do you recommend me to do?

Thanks

Solution
A powerful single card solution is most of the times better compared to a dual card setup.. On that analogy, i would vote for a single HD 5850 (or the GTX 470) over adding another 5770..

Well, the thing is that I really want to upgrade it. But I'm not sure what would be better...

Apart from that, It all depends on your Motherboard, CPU and PSU. if you can supply this info I can help you.

I recommend this 470 for 299.99, It uses more power and produces more heat but it is also slightly better than the 5850 and it has a free game/very easy driver install.

Oh, Theres also THIS MSi twin fozr model which is oc and alot cooler for $20 more(after rebate.)

Not really. Two 5770's are about as fast as a single 5870, slightly in some situations.
The only games in which a single 470 can beat dual 5770's are the TWIMTBP games, and even then not all of them.

I am sorry but i disagree with above posts. Your freind will pay you not more than 100$. So, if you do as above, you will spend 200$ more. Save that money and cf 2 5770s which out perform a single 5850.

In fact he's going to give me $150... So I will have to add just $100...

I'll have to add $100 if I buy the 5850, and If I buy another 5770, is going to be $150, but, which configuration is going to work better?...

Wow...

He's willing to give you $150 for a used card? He doesn't shop around does he?

A new one costs $140 including shipping, mailing in the $15 rebate brings it down to $125. Plus you can get a free game, Tango Down.

I prefer a single card solution to SLI or XFire since not all games can take advantage of dual cards.

He's not from USA, and buying it and sending it to him is going to cost him even more that $150, thats why... besides I bought this card just 2 months ago :p.

Mmm ok it seems that one 5850 is going to be better that 2x 5770 then...
