Did my recent power outage ruin my pc?

ok so i was on my pc and the power just went out,so i waited until it got back on and now when i try to turn on my computer i get no loading screen and only hear my pc's video card fan spinning very fast and making a loud noise,it stays that way until i turn it off,this the first time it has happened to me,btw i have a BFG Nvidia 260 gtx video card,any suggestions on what it could be?

What are your rig's components? Reset the mob BIOS and try again.

how would i reset the mob bios? ok so i decided to take out my video card and run the computer on my on board video and i get a message that says

"Reboot and select boot device or insert boot media device and press a key"

....did my hard drive crash?

To rest your BIOS, unplug the power supply, hold the power on button for 10 seconds, than remove the "battery". After about 10 minutes, reinstall the battery, plug the power supply back in and reboot the PC.

ok so i did that and my hardrive is not even showing up on the boot sequence,only my dvd drive is showing up

Keep in mind that with a BIOS reset, all your BIOS configuration comes back to default, so, you need configure data, time...all those things, and if your HD was in AHCI or RAID mode, you will have to change it again to that mode.

What PSU do you have (brand and model, not just wattage). It sounds like it spiked your system when the power died.

i agree that the psu is shot. especially if it is a lousy unit, like most are.
