My first build

Hello all here is my proposed build - my first I was going with the Intel SB until the debacle with the 67 boards began but will wait until April when they reckon they will have it fixed if anyone thinks it's worth it.
I haven't included a case I saw the Coolermaster on a Newegg video and liked the clip in idea with the HDD's but they have in their wisdom put the USB and jacks at the top of the case meaning dangling wires down the front. So any ideas would be appreciated - don't want the fancy LED fans Star Trek look just a good useable case.
Oh should have mentioned just an average user - not into gaming except a decent flight combat or sub hunter sim if one could get one! Just want a bit of grunt with a view to beefing it up later. Anyway -
Intel Core i5 2500 $229.00
Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H Motherboard $149.01
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T $192
Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H Rev2 $162
Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3
$59.00 (maybe x 2 - $120)
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB HD502HJ $45.00
Sony AD7240SGB 24X SATA DVDRW OEM $35.00
CoolerMaster 1 40mm Silent Fan
Corsair GS-600 Power Supply $109
Radeon HD4350 512MB $39.00 or
VTX3D Radeon HD5670 1GBr $95
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM $105

As an aferthought would consider a MSI mobo if necessary (have seen that Scott Mueller recommends Gigabyte, MSI and Intel boards).

More about build
  1. Intel i5-2500K, the 2500 version isn't as good as the other one.

Change the RAM for CL7 or CL8, if you buy on newegg, go with G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 CL7 or CL8, had a good price. I'd consider a better GPU.
  2. Thanks saint but am restricted on price in Australia the K is another $50 on top of $230 as it is ans mate we can't get Newegg products shipped here.

Ok with the RAM can get it here is this the ones you are referring to? G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH (2x2GB) DDR3 & G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM (2x2GB) DDR3 both are reasonable price $60 there are others for another $40 or so and the card well I don't know much about these things so whatever you suggest. Just want to get a good as quality visual output as I can - within a reasonable price range of course..
  3. Do you have a site like newegg on Australia to buy? Give me the link to know what components are available for you.
  4. Hiyya saint there are quite a few sites like that but living in the country have to deal through web buying whereas i prefer to see products in the flesh as it were. But the site I deal with mostly is .
There are others but it's like food shopping one could go around the traps forever looking for the best deals eh? So I just plump for one site maybe two for the swings and roundabouts rule applies for me.
Anyway see what you think the are fairly representative of them all.
  5. In my opinion, I would wait another couple of months for AMD to come out with their new processors, but that is just me!
  6. Yhe I would computerrock but my young bloke and I were hoping to compare Intel (my build) and his AMD "Beast" but still if worst comes to the worst might just have to do that.
  7. Thanks to all you blokes I have just about finalised the build stuff and waiting on the "boards" to arrive. So maybe in a couple of days I can let you know what the final is.
  8. Hey look sorry for late reply but have had to rethink the build as a few things have come up as in some of the materials where I get my gear from have discontinued that I was going to get. I have also been wrestling with H or P mainly on cost and other info re merits of both because I don't understand as you may realise by now I am not that savvy re the tech stuff.

But hopefully in th next few days I can get things sorted and make a start.

Again apologies for late reply but I didn't have any idea it would turn out to e so "complicated"..
