Can i upgrade c2d with 2 more rams

i have 2 1gb rams now and 2 slots free. can i add 2 more 1gb rams? how the performance
will be affected after up-gradation?

my computer hangs sometimes. Then I have to remove and re-seat rams. after 3-4 months this is repeated.
I believe this would be solved by filling empty slots. at-least st'by will be available in place of loose contacts.

filling empty slots will not fix anything. If your computer hangs and you have to re-seat ram, then there is something wrong with the motherboard ram slots or the ram contacts. Removing the ram that is in there and replacing it may fix the problem, but it could just as easily be a problem with the motherboard. Have you tried your current ram in the other slots? putting more ram in an already faulty system wont fix anything.
