I3 cpu and motherboard

hi my pc broke and im looking for an i3 processor cheap and a motherboard that will support ddr2 and ddr3 ram.

£100-130

i play wow cataclysm only

my power supply is a corsair hx 650w (will this run an i3 cpu?)
my gpu is a geforce 8800gt (no im not upgrading this)

please post links preferable motherboad brands would be asus and gigabite and obviously the cpu has to fit in the mobo

Unfortunately DDR2 RAM isn't possible with an i3 processor. Can you provide a link to sites you prefer buying from?

Which i3 are you referring to? You could use http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/2 to compare CPUs and select the one (Intel or AMD) that best meets you requirements and budget.

oK SCRAP THe i3 ive decided on an intel core2 quad core after reading another thread here i just need a motherboard that supports the processor and has ddr2 ram or ddr2/ddr3 ram board

AND WILL MY GPU and power supply be ok in this pc my psu is 650w corsair hx

Heres an Asus one that takes both http://www.ebuyer.com/product/191603 Asrock is owned by Asus and I have liked all the Asrock boards I have used (All AMD though) the Asus doesn't cost much more though. I don't know much about 775 boards at all myself.

Your post is about i3 processors which require a socket 1156 motherboard, but you are selecting socket 775 motherboards. That won't work.

The least expensive LGA 1156 motherboard is £56: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/248557 and the i3 CPU is £90: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/185939. That's out of your price range.

Have you considered an inexpensive AM2+ motherboard along with an AMD CPU that fits your budget?

I missed that. I presume the OP already has DDR2 RAM and a Core2 Quad or he can find one that fits his budget.

OK hi guys ive changed my mind again i read that phenom x4 are competitive to intel core 2 quads can somone suggest a ddr2/ddr3 motherboard for this processor please and are phenom x4 expensive

as i have come to realise intel are a rip off brand so im going back to amd which is a good cpu athlon 2 x4 or phenom 2 x4 my old processor was a athlon 2 dual core i think

May I suggest that you create a new thread with an appropriate title? There are very knowledgeable people who can definitely help you with an inexpensive AMD build. Please specify if you already have DDR2 RAM as it's the only valid reason to buy an AM2+ motherboard; otherwise go with an AM3 motherboard.

Just get the board I said on your last thread its the only one I know of that takes AM2 & AM3 CPUs and both DDR2 & DDR3 + its only £31.73. Note it only takes 95W processors or under http://www.ebuyer.com/product/221178
