I will be using this build for high-end gaming. I would like to lessen the price of the build since my limit is $1000.
I plan to buy this today or tomorrow. Any comments on it?

do some more research, 965 stink for OCing, they cost to much for the boost from the 955...

965 is only a 955 with a higher clock speed. stock cooling would let you OC to 3.5 if you wanted too with a 955.

a 125 watt 965 is a later stepping , runs on lower voltage and overclocks a couple of hundred MHz higher . You can expect over 4 GHz from one of these with a good cooler
Many application suit benchmarks put the 965 ahead of the i5 750 , and for gaming where graphics processing power is more important then its often better to save money on a processor/mb and spend it on a better graphics card

even though I have used hacked drivers before in SLI for crossfire board.

I have AMD chip units running on nVidia chipsets and they have no issues

+1 but the 6870 is fine and later down the line if his gpu became a problem he could always pop another one in since they scale amazingly well.
