I did quite a lot of research in terms of getting right hardwares. But after reading through the blogs, forums, etc. I'm not sure if I should upgrade my system or to just wait out and build the new system instead.
Anyways my current set up is

Mainboard : Asus P5N-E SLI
Chipset : nVidia nForce 650i SLI SPP
Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2400MHz
Physical Memory : 2048MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Hard Disk : Hitachi HDT725032VLA SCSI Disk Device (320GB)
DVD-Rom Drive : HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N
Monitor Type : Samsung SyncMaster - 27 inches
Network Card : NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 (32-bit)
DirectX : Version 10.00

The power supply is 580w from casegears.
My case is COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

I want to play WoW and possibly D3 when it comes out, and SC2 at a maxed out graphics without any hiccups.
Since I have the quad already, I was thinking to get 4-8 gigs of RAM and a new video card like 460 GTX or something equivalent to that. My mobo and the system is pretty outdated and only takes ddr2. How fast are ddr3 in comparison?

My ultimate question is does it really worth the money to upgrade at this point of time? and if i do so, how long the overclocking the system will last on me before i need to switch to a new system? Would any of hardwares bottle neck and limits its functionality?

PLEASE HELP!! I will really appreciate y'all help and just let me know if you need any more info.

Thank you very much all and have a wonderful day

your system is ok, but the video card (8600GT) is low end - dump that for atleast a GTS450 or 6850 etc

processor - if you can, overclock it to (stock cooling is aok) 3ghz - fsb 266/1066 -> 333/1333 = ~3ghz

ram - get 8gb

os - dump xp seriously - get 7 64

your system will see a few more years with the new specs - it would be a massive leap (video card alone)

Ah thanks, i tried to OC my CPU but I bought my pc from ibuypower.com and they had it disabled. I can only do AI OC which makes my comp very unstable.
