Go for the 1055t and overclock it to 4ghz easily on a decent Air Cooler.

Hi.

Phenom II X4 965.

Pros:

1- Easy overclock (BE)
2- High clock (3.4GHz stock)
3- More cheap
4- True quad core

Cons:

1- Expensive compared with X4 955 and Intel CPU in same level
2- You need lucky to get a C3 revision that use less power and produces less heat
3- NB limited to 2600MHz

Phenom II X6 1055T

Pros:

1- True six core CPU
2- More lifespan that X4 965
3- NB at 3000MHz or more

Con:

1- Locked CPU, not that easy to overclock
2- 2.8GHz stock speed

What is your budget? Because SB gives you the possibility to build a new rig with low cost and high performance.

955 is better because its cheaper and you can overclock it to 3.6 on stock voltage

but if your budget is not limited i would recommend Intel CPUs

ASUS P8P67 Pro or Gigabyte P67A-UD4, the problems with SB has not been fixed yet.

Judging by the CPU's your looking at, I would recommend an X-fire board with two PCIe slots running at x16, x16. AMD FX boards and Intel "P" series. A few bucks more than a x16, x8 board, but those extra lanes of data may get utilized to a noticeable degree soon.
