Guys -

Thanks for all the excellent info and insight. I'm building a "light gaming" rig (just getting into gaming), but I will mainly use it for business (office, powerpoint, etc.) and internet. I was originally thinking of an i7-950 build, but you've convinced me that that is overkill and I should save $$$ on the CPU/MB for a future upgrade instead. So here is what I am thinking, please give feedback:

Link to Combo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?I...

1. Cooler Master RC-922M-KKN1-GP :$89.98
2. ASUS M4A87TD EVO :$109.99
3. GIGABYTE GV-N460OC-1GI :$189.99
4. Corsair CMPSU-650TX :$89.99
5. AMD HDZ965FBGMBOX :$165.99
6. G.SKILL F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM :$94.99
7. Western Digital WD5001AALS :$59.99
8. SAMSUNG SH-S223C :$16.99

* Combined Total:$817.91
* Combo Discounts:-$70.91
* Combo Price:$747.00

I would also add:

1. G.SKILL Phoenix Pro Series FM-25S2S-120GBP2 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

2. A sweet monitor, recommendations please?

Please also let me know:

1. Is the GTX460 overkill, and/or should I do an 6850 instead? Or something else?

2. Some say the i5 and i7 outperform the AMD 965, in what ways? Will that even matter to me, or for business and light gaming is it a non issue? I'd like to save the $250 or so if it won't really matter for me.

Thanks again guys, you are the best! This is so much fun learning and i can't wait to build.

I really don't even think you'd need an i5 or i7
you'd be more than fine with a 955.
i also find SSD not the best bang for buck because of the Price to Gigabyte Ratio

That's a pretty decent bundle with everything included

The gtx 460 is not overkill,it's overpriced in my opinion.A 6850 would be better and with xfire you could reach 5970ish performance.The build is generally overkill for your needs as even an athlon 2 x3 440 with a decent mobo and a 6850 with 800$ as a budget would be enough.If you are going to game lightly maybe even a 5750 would suffice.

@ Becoolbro, +1 on needs however if its within his budget why not get better performance?

Thanks guys. So I'll go 6850 rather than GTS460. What about the MB, that a good choice?

You could also get away with a 60 GB SSD just for the operating system and main programs, then have a 500 GB or larger mechanical hard drive for data and games.

One last shot - any comments on the MB? Is there a better option? Happy to spend a few extra $$$ if it is worth it. Thanks again guys and have a great week!
