Win7 / Win7 64 bit

Hello,

I am trying to get a Seagate 500 GB HDD with WIN-7 Pro, to be recognized in a desktop PC with a WIN-7 Pro 64 bit system installed, on an Asus 64 bit system board. Any help with which settings to check or alter would be very much appreciated. I can not seem to find an advisory or instruction on this question in the system board manual. Many thanks for the help anyone can offer on this topic.

In the bios set the sata mode the drive is connected to to ahci. You will get slightly better performance but the main benefit is the easy upgrade to an SSD down the road.

Thank YOU. From what I have found out the 64 bit system board should not have trouble recognizing a 32 bit system loaded hard drive .... but so far, in my case that remains mostly as an instance of unproven theory.

Sorry for not responding earlier, have been away for a few days. I plan to try out an idea or two over the following couple of days and then I can hopefully add a chapter of my own discoveries to the solving of this not so user friendly enigma.
