This is my first gaming computer build and my budget looks like its going to be about $500 but i could go to 600 if needed but trying not to spend that much, i plan to use this for gaming i want to play call of duty, starcraft2, oblivion and have it be able to play some games that might come out in the near future.

already have the case i bought it for my first build

http://www.atxcases.com/products/productdetails.asp?main_catid=1&catid=86&prodid=410
wish i had a different one but back then i looked at it and saw that it had lights and the tank and i had to have it ( i was young).

and i have xp for the os and id figure id use my student discount and get windows 7 upgrade so that is a price i have already considered on top of this

and i have a cd drive already from my old computer but i thought i might get a new one sense the old one is almost 10yrs old and i already have a wireless card

and i still have to buy a monitor but im keeping that cost separate from this one

so here is what i have picked out so far i would like to know if there is better deals or better bang for the buck

EVGA H55V Micro ATX Intel Motherboard ($90)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188063

asus Radeon HD 5670 video card ($90)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121362
(worried this might be to much for the pc im building or everything else isn't up to par with this)

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ700MXSP 700W power supply ($80)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341018
(i know i should get an 80+ certified power supply)

Intel Core i3-540 Clarkdale 3.06GHz ($114)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115221

G.SKILL 4GB DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 ($70)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231193

SAMSUNG Spinpoint 320gb ($42)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152244

then approximating $20 for a cd/dvd drive

so the total comes out to about $505 :D

so if anything is not compatible or if i should be looking at other things please let me know and thanks alot for the help!

In the budget area, I would suggest going AMD. Better performance and costs less in some cases. Invest more into a video card, the one you chose isn't very powerful.

so go something like a AMD Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103887

and then a MSI 770-G45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130250

and up the graphics card to a PowerColor AX4850 512MD3-HV3 Radeon HD 4850 V3 512MB 256-bit
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131365&cm_re=Radeon_HD_4850_512_MB-_-14-131-365-_-Product

or this graphics card maybe when i comes to graphics cards i start to get confused :heink:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102859&cm_re=Sapphire_Radeon_HD_5750_Graphics_Card-_-14-102-859-_-Product

does that work or do you have a better suggestion?

Not quite, theres a good combo deal with Biostar 890GX mobo and AMD Athlon II X4 630 processor on for 162.99, leaving more room for a good quality video card. Also found a good bundle with a better video card the xfx Radeon hd 5850 and xfx 650W psu that is 80 plus certified for 219.98

I believe this is a slight bit more expensive than what you had before, but I believe the performance will be much better. Especially for gaming.

@1-anh the only problem i have with combo deals is that by the time i get around to buying some of them is that the deal is most likely going to end. also the only thing about your suggestion that would make it cost more then the original price i had was that it does not come with a cpu fan so i would have to purchase my own which could be 20-40 dollars more but i could make it work.
