if this is a new batch of blanks try using a different brand. if it happens with all disks then replace the drive.

Thanks, that's useful. It's not a new batch of CD's, but I will try a different make. Over the past eighteen months or so I have probably made about eighty copies, mainly just for playing in the car. The drive should be capable of copying many more than this in its lifetime, shouldn't it?
