Hello,
I am looking at upgrading from a quad core intel to a i7 probably 1366 socket, (have had less than satisfactory past AMD experiences). I am gamer and have GTX580 which i will later sli with another. This sits in a stiker formula 2 ROG motherboard. I am a fan of ROG and the ASUS striker. Can anyone suggest the best mother board and ram to accompany the upgraded chip. Thinking ASUS x58 rampage black addition or megabyte g1 assassin.

More about : asus gigabyte mboard

Socket LGA1366 is scheduled to be replaced by LGA2011. I suggest you wait instead of investing in a dead end platform.

Thanks I will wait as have a little time up my sleeve. Any idea when these are going to be released? I guess that with a new socket the 2 boards I suggested will be different? Which is better anyway if the new release date is not known or is distant.

Speculation says first quarter next year! Between Asus and Gigabyte, if I can not decide on price then I will toss a coin!

Thanks rolli59. Early next year would be OK. I just dont want it to drag out as limited window for numer reasons like tax!! and even though dead platform is still better than what i have currently.
